A Random Weekend [Aug. 10th, 2004|09:57 pm]
Current Mood: Exhausted
Current Music: Hoobastank - Too Little Too Late

Yeah, I haven't updated my LJ in a while. Zhen was over from Sat-Tue, so my dad had me take him out places, and do non-computer stuff, cause his dad gets bitchy when Zhen spends time on the computer. Though we did get some gaming in...the first time since I got my laptop. And I won't game on my own w/out it being a LAN party or something, cause I said I quit. We also had another Chinese kid over, Jon, who we dragged along as well. Sat night, we ended up going to the mall and we were just randomly wandering around when we picked up a stalker or something. She was prolly dared by her friends to come up and act scary or something; One of those, "Oh look, three Asian kids! Let's go say hi...maybe they're part of the Asian mafia or something," kind of things. She waited for us at the top of the escalator up from the food court, and said hi and shook our hands, and then we noticed her passing by us and being really conspicuous about it twice more. It was kind of freaky. And then we went to Borders and got coffee. Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, we kind of just hung around Lancaster. On Sunday, me and Zhen got lost in the Manheim area. Everytime we got to a light, I'd tell Zhen to pick a random direction, and we'd go that way. And on Monday, we saw King Arthur, which was quite funny, in an unintentional kind of way. Like, who the hell tries to block a block of burning rock the size of their upper torso with a wooden shield? I dunno about you readers, but I, for one, would turn and run like hell away from wherever the rock was planning to land. And...we did other random junk. And now I'm back at home, on Tuesday night after JKD, typing into my LJ again. -sigh-

Random Crap [Aug. 5th, 2004|09:07 pm]
Current Mood: Bored
Current Music: Muse - Hysteria

Ughhh...I'm so bored. Work was alright today; I got my first new channel in two weeks to work on. And then I came home, and did the usual lazing around. Listened to like, an hour of music, before I got tired of my playlist, and stopped. I really need new music. Please post suggestions. And then I watched Intolerable Cruelty, which has to be the absolute -strangest- movie I've ever seen. Don't watch it. And, my order for the Sony T1 got cancelled. So, now I'm deciding between a Canon s500 and the Sony T1. And...apparently, Eva and Christy are arguing over who's hubby I am :X Annnnnd...I think I might need a chest x-ray, cause my PPD bump red thing is still there, and the same size it was when I got it; it's supposed to go away completely within a day or two. And, Frontier just wasted ten minutes of my life. They send me a credit card application, so I apply. Ten minutes into the damn application, they ask my age, and then tell me that I need to be eighteen. On a brighter note, I did convince my dad to compensate me for my college bathtowel purchases :D Bye.

False Positive [Aug. 2nd, 2004|11:23 pm]
Current Mood: Relieved
Current Music: Incubus - I Miss You

Well, I got up this morning, and went to the hospital to get my PPD (tuberculosis test) checked. And, they said that the doctor said to wait for her to come in before they checked everything...which wasn't for another hour. So I ran home, did stuff, and came back. And the nurse took one look at my arm where they injected the PPD and freaked. It was one of those, "Oh shit, we've never had a TB case here before," kind of looks. Then the doctor remembered that I was born in China, and that all babies in China are given a live virus TB vaccine, which sets off a false positive when they're given the PPD test. So, I dodged a bullet there, finding out that I didn't have TB. Though, they said that my blood pressure was a bit high. So, if I'm going to continue eating five meals a day, I'm only allowed to eat three meals worth of salt :X And I like salt, so this really sucks. Though, when I tested my blood pressure later on in the early evening, it dropped by 15 in systolic and diastolic. So I dunno what's going on there...maybe my heart was being petulant when they took my BP in the morning or something. And I went out and got towels today. K-mart had two bathtowels for seven bucks, so I got a bunch there, and a couple handtowels. Which are definitely not worth the price. They're fifty cents cheaper for something that's like, a third the size. Ripoff. And now I'm going to get another meal...bye :D

An Empty Life [Aug. 1st, 2004|08:10 pm]
Current Mood: Exhausted
Current Music: Yellowcard - Empty Apartment

Yeah, as my current mood indicates, I'm exhausted. I woke up this morning sometime around 11 EST, ate breakfast, and went to the weight room, where I spent my next hour and a half. Got home, ate lunch, talked to Eva online while listening to Kate talk about how she was dead, and that at least her parents wouldn't be home for another few hours. I dunno...personally, if I knew that I was going to die in a few hours, and that all I had to look forward in that time was work, I'd rather just have it end then and there. And I tried sshing into my work computer to grab some data, but it seems to be down. I guess someone decided to shut down my computer for the weekend :X And then I went to the mall w/Kristen and we hunted down a few friends working at the time (Cobian, Kari, and Ashley). And Cobian is training a new worker who's so inept, it has to hurt. I truly pity him. The new worker guy looks evil...he's got these weird eyes that seem to be glaring at everything he looks at, which aren't very good qualities for a salesperson who's supposed to be charming and persuading the customers with his/her amazing (preferably) charisma. I got back, had steak and lobster w/the family (I <3 steak and lobster), and then got the mow the lawn. With the bush-trees, or bushes on stilts, however you want to look at them. They're too short to use the riding mower under, but too tall to just let the grass grow under them. And now I'm back in front of the computer. And my arms still red and puffy where they injected the PPD test stuff. I really hope that doesn't mean I have tuberculosis, cause that would really suck. And now I'm going to go take a nap, wake up, eat some stuff, and go to bed. Semi-night (half of a goodnight). Yes, I am a dork.

Thunderstorms [Jul. 31st, 2004|10:07 pm]
Current Mood: Getting by
Current Music: Lifehouse - Spin

Well, today was a fairly short day, so far. I woke up sometime around noon, and had enough time to shower/eat breakfast/eat lunch before Emmy arrived. We ended up going to the mall to get towels, and other random college junk. She got a down throw, which she fully intends to return. I ended up getting a navy blue towel and a burgandy wine towel. And I'm going back to get a light pink one sometime soon because 1) it'd be amusing to have a light pink towel, 2) Eva demanded it, and 3) Meg agreed that it would be funny, if nothing else. Then she left for work, and I ate dinner, talked to Eva and Meg, and then drove out to pick up the UT2K4 discs from Tim, and dropped off a college guide book thing for Meg, cause she spent the last two months in Europe and has no clue what to do about this whole college search thing. And then I came home and Avendared for a bit (yeah, I am a dork). And now I'm typing my day's story into my LJ again, while reading Maddox...who happens to rule, according to his site. And I need to go get handtowels now too. And stuff. So I'm going to go do something more productive than type little blurbs of text into a text box. Bye.

Murphy's Law [Jul. 30th, 2004|08:48 pm]

Current Mood: Aggravated
Current Music: Shinedown - 45

Yeah, you know how Murphy's Law states that everything that can go wrong, will? Well, today proved it true yet again. I wake up WAY too early, and get to work, figuring that I'll get in a little extra time cause I had to leave early for my college physical/immunizations (I hate needles). Well, it turns out that the fire alarm system at work was borked. The alarm sounded six or seven times throughout the morning, and finally, I figured that there prolly wasn't a raging inferno converging on my little web development room. Lunch was probably the only redeeming factor of today...the workers at the Cove recognize me, and think I'm a nice guy, apparently, so they gave me two free hashbrowns. I walked back to my little room carrying a chicken caeser wrap <3, a butter-drenched soft pretzel, and two hashbrowns...and proceeded to spend the rest of my afternoon talking to Eva/Avendaring/IRCing/making sure that Jack's uPortal channels worked. I get home...and head to the physical, with the dreaded needles.

The nurse and doctor were really nice, and thought I was healthy enough. I always wore my seatbelt, and didn't do drugs/practice self-mutilation, like the good boy I am. Then, they decided that I needed to get meningitis, tetanus, and tuberculosis shots, in addition to getting my finger gashed open. The shots weren't bad, despite the fact that I hate needles, except for the TB one. That one hurt like a bitch. They stuck this needle thing under my arm, and injected a small tuberculosis-finding bubble thing under my skin, and said that I needed to come back on Monday for them to check it. Nnghhh. After my physical, I sat around for an hour or so on the couch, waiting for the throbbing in my arms to go away; I got an injection on each arm, and this dull throbbing pain started up as soon as I started driving home from the physical. Well, I decided to stop feeling sorry for myself, and went lifting, where I almost dropped a forty-five pound weight on my foot. I left early, cause I started feeling dizzy and disoriented; prolly a side effect of the vaccines. And now I'm wasting my evening by relating the day's events to a computer that doesn't give a damn about what happened to me, and I will now proceed to post this to my LiveJournal, which no one will read. And my left shoulder seems to have lost feeling, cause I've been scratching at it for the past ten minutes, and can't feel my own fingernails. Night.

Hello World [Jul. 29th, 2004|12:55 pm]
Current Mood: Pissed off
Current Music: Iced Earth - I Died For You

Yeah, I decided to start a LiveJournal account today. Half because a few friends were bugging me about how willshao.com is going to be down until I get to Caltech (cause my subscription expired, and I'm not paying the price for a year-long subscription when I'm only going to use it for two months) and half because I wanted to be able to post in my friends' LJ's as something other than Anonymous. So, I decided to start a LJ today. Yeah, I'm at work, and bored out of my mind. My supervisor's out until Monday, and forgot to give me a new assignment to work on this week, so I get the ever-so-exciting job of optimizing my old code and documenting (aka: making it so that a six-year old can use and modify the stuff I code, not a very easy task). Oh, and I got bored, so I decided to see who I talk to most while I'm at work.

Top five girls in alphabetical order: Andi, Eva, Jackie, Johnna, and Kate
Top five guys in alphabetical order: Ben, Carrick, Jake, Kyle, and Ray

And for the people I talk to most when I'm at home...

Top five girls in alphabetical order: Eva, Jen, Johnna, Meg, and Steph
Top five guys in alphabetical order: Carrick, Jon, Jake, Tim, and Zhen

Yeah...I'm now going to proceed to go beat my head against the computer for hours on end trying to figure out why my code changes don't work, after which I'll find out that I missed a damn period on line 314159265359 or something. Joy. And...getting screwed over sucks. The screw-you-over monster is a tricky one, and bides its time until one day, BAM, it bites you in the ass when you least expect it. The moral of this rant is to always watch your back.
